Hi, I’m Bijou.

I am artist, writer, and researcher. Here is where you can check out my work!

Art. Community. Healing.

As an artist, illustrator, and aspiring art therapist, I believe in the power of creativity to connect, heal, and inspire. With a background in psychology and neuroscience from Chapman University, I’ve conducted research exploring the mind–body connection, self-esteem, and emotional well-being. These experiences deepened my understanding of how we process the world around us—and how art can play a role in healing and meaning-making.

I use storytelling and visual art to translate complex scientific ideas into accessible, engaging narratives. My work centers on themes of empathy, environmental justice, and social connection, encouraging people to approach the world with curiosity and compassion. Whether through research, community art, or therapeutic exploration, I believe science should be for everyone—and that art is not just a form of activism, but a powerful tool for healing.

I’ve always been passionate about art, but in college, I was drawn to science as a way of understanding the world. While studying psychology and neuroscience at Chapman University, I conducted research in multiple labs and discovered a love for research writing and presenting at conferences. During a summer fellowship at the University of Michigan’s Graduate Neuroscience Program, I realized that my passion for the mind and for art could be connected. My place wasn’t just inside the lab—it was in translating complex ideas into something meaningful and accessible. Through the process of making art, we can build community, inspire action, and support our own well-being. I’m committed to bridging the gap between science and the public, using illustration and storytelling to make research more approachable, human, and healing.
